Teeth Cleaning in San Diego

Flossing and brushing may not be enough to prevent the onset of dental issues. In order to prevent dental problems, you may want a professional teeth cleaning in San Diego by an expert dentist in addition to brushing and flossing. Teeth cleaning is also called Dental Deep Cleaning, and (in the profession) Root Scaling & Planning.

Why is Dental Cleaning essential?

According to majority dental doctors, you should visit your dentist twice a year and preferably get your teeth cleaned by a professional dental doctor. Dental cleaning is crucial for a buildup of plaque, calculus (tartar), and stains due to tooth decay and gum diseases, namely:

     1.      GINGIVITIS

This is a common gum disease in which gums get puffy red, swollen, and bleed easily. Professional Teeth Cleaning and good oral home care is the best cure for it. If you do not take the proper treatment of Gingivitis, it causes inflammation in the gums and begins to detach from your teeth, leaving little pockets around the tooth. Small spaces between gums and teeth (pocket) trap bacteria in plaque that you can’t remove with a toothbrush. As a result, it hardens and becomes tartar (calculus). Plaque and tartar buildup causes further irritation and gum diseases. A person should be more cautious in the following conditions: smoking addiction, HIV Infection, diabetes, aging, and certain medications.

     2.      PERIODONTITIS

Advance progression of Gingivitis. With time, bacterial plaques spread and produce toxins that cause inflammatory damage to teeth supporting bone and tissue. It has mild symptoms but can result in a complete loss of teeth if left untreated.

What’s the Procedure for Deep Teeth Cleaning?

The procedure includes:

     1.      Scaling

Scaling involves the use of an ultrasonic vibration tool and water spray to dislodge the plaque from the teeth and enamel. Plaque chunks of significant sizes can be removed manually by a scraping tool on and in between the teeth. Also, analgesics can be applied to remove any sensitivity or pain during the deep teeth cleaning procedure.

     2.      Polishing

The hygienist uses a rotating scrubber tool to gently scrub and polish the teeth followed by flossing and any application of a fluoride solution to ensure and enhance integrity of the enamel.

How often should you dental clean?

It all depends on your Oral health and your doctor’s diagnosis. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends regular dental checkups, at intervals suggested by a dentist, to sustain healthy oral hygiene. In light of new research, advertised in the Journal of Dental Research, the ADA wants to remind consumers that their dentists should tailor the constancy of their regular dental checkups according to their current oral health status and history. Many dentists may require you to undergo the procedure every 3 or 6 months. Healthy and clean teeth are not only part of a beautiful and social smile, but also link with overall systemic health.
